As an Ismaili Wedding DJ team, we have had the privilege of being a part of hundreds of weddings in the Ismaili community. Ismaili weddings are known for their cultural traditions and rituals. Half of our team is Ismaili. We will share our experiences as Ismaili Wedding DJs, highlighting the significance of music in these ceremonies and events. As well as how we strive to create a musical journey that resonates with the couple, their families, and friends at an Ismaili wedding.
Customizing the Musical Experience
Every couple has a unique love story, and as Ismaili Wedding DJs, we strive to tailor the musical experience to reflect their journey. We work closely with the couple and their families, understanding their preferences and incorporating their favorite songs into the soundtrack of the wedding weekend. From the couple’s first dance to dedications and surprise performances, we create personalized moments that make the celebration even more memorable. This customization allows the couple and their loved ones to connect with the music and create memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Mehndi
There are two ways our couples usually do this night. They can rent a venue or event space and host the mehndi night there. We can play classic Mehndi songs and if the vibes change to party mode, we can play dance music to kick everything off. Most couples end up doing a low key mehndi night at each other’s houses. The bride’s side gets together at the bride’s parents house. The same happens for the groom’s side. We can give you a playlist for this.
The Pithi/Sangeet
Music is an integral part of Ismaili weddings, as it helps set the ambiance and elevates the sense of celebration. This night is arguably the most fun in this multi day Ismaili wedding tradition. This is a more casual day and there are usually no other events in the day time. The guests are rested and ready to have fun. There are entrances for the Pithi and Sangeet. Followed by performances and some quick speeches and then it’s party time. If there is dancing planned for both nights then this night is mostly Bollywood music. If this is the only night of dancing then we play a mix of the couples favorite Indian and American songs.
Nayab & Akil’s Sangeet was full of lots of colors, great performances and an energetic dance floor.
Nikkah
This usually takes place at Jamat Khana but once in a while it will take place at the venue where the reception is taking place. In these instances we can provide the right speakers, microphones and music needed.
Reception
Ismaili weddings bring together individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, resulting in a beautiful blend of traditions. The families are usually from India, Pakistan, Canada or Africa. As Ismaili Wedding DJs, we embrace this cultural diversity and curate a playlist that reflects the richness of different musical genres. From Bollywood dance songs to American hits, we strive to incorporate a mix of music that represents the varied tastes of the couple and their families. This fusion of cultures not only celebrates the uniqueness of each individual but also promotes a sense of inclusivity and togetherness among the guests. We want everyone to leave saying “this was the best wedding we have ever been to”.

Creating Memorable Moments:
A central aspect of an Ismaili wedding is the celebration of joy and happiness. As Ismaili Wedding DJs, we aim to create a lively and festive atmosphere by curating an engaging playlist that includes popular dance tracks, upbeat melodies, and traditional Ismaili wedding songs. The music sets the stage for exciting moments beginning from the couple’s grand entrance. By understanding the pulse of the crowd and seamlessly blending songs, we ensure that the dance floor remains alive and that every guest experiences a sense of celebration.
